In this article, you’ll find out how long the battery typically lasts on a mobility scooter, and what the typical maximum range is.

Most mobility scooter batteries will provide enough charge to last between 8-20 miles.

However, the maximum range of a scooter depends largely on the size of the battery, and subsequently, the size of the scooter.

Smaller, travel-friendly scooters typically have a shorter battery life compared to larger, road-legal scooters.

How can you maximise the battery life of your mobility scooter?

Here are some ways you can maximise your scooter’s battery life:

Follow charging best practices. Regularly charging your scooter, especially after use, will ensure the battery is always topped up and ready to go. We recommend you don’t let the battery go below 25% capacity, to avoid the risk of damage. Finally, we recommend you always use the charger provided with your scooter. Most mobility scooters are provided with smart chargers that cut off once the battery has been fully charged, which means you can leave the scooter charger overnight.
Keep your tyres topped up. Low tyre pressure increases rolling resistance and subsequently increases the amount of battery power required, so always check your tyre pressure before heading out.
Use a smooth and steady pace when driving. The way you drive affects the battery usage. Sudden acceleration and braking can increase battery usage, so we recommend you keep the speed steady!
