How to store a mobility scooter – Our top 3 storage methods

If you’re considering purchasing a mobility scooter, you’re probably wondering how and where to store it safely. After all, a mobility scooter is a significant investment, so the last thing you want is damage occurring through improper storage.

So, in this article, I’ll cover 3 mobility scooter storage methods, looking at the pros and cons of each.

Outdoor storage

If the scooter you’re looking at is particularly large, or you’re short of space in your property, you can opt for a secure outdoor storage solution.

If you already have a lockable shed or garage with space for your scooter, then that’s an ideal solution for storing your scooter.

Don’t have space for a shed? Consider purchasing a smaller, lockable storage box such as the one below from Armadillo Boxes, which is specially designed for mobility scooters.

Mobility scooter storage covers

In situations where you don’t have space inside or budget for a bespoke outdoor storage solution, you could consider a storage cover such as the Splash Deluxe Scooter Storage Cover.

The advantage of this storage method is that it’s relatively easy on the budget, and it takes up no more space than the footprint of the scooter itself.

However, we don’t recommend using storage covers as a long-term solution, as they offer little security from theft, especially if it’s visible from the street.

Indoor storage

We believe the best way to safely store a mobility scooter is inside your property.

Keeping your scooter indoors means that it’s protected from the elements and is safely out of sight. Keeping your scooter indoors also means that it will likely be covered by your Home Contents insurance.

The downside of indoor storage is that you’ll have to have the space for it, and you might want to clean your scooter first if you’ve been driving off the beaten track!
